Homework will consist primarily of reading, spelling, and basic facts. Students are expected to read at home daily for 30 minutes.  There will usually be a spelling quiz at the end of the week. Spelling lists will be given at the beginning of the week and can be found on our class e-page. In addition students will be given math basic fact sheets to practice. Your child's basic fact sheets will be sent home in a duo-tang. Students will be expected to complete one fact page a night.  The duo-tangs do not need to be sent back every day and can be checked by parents at home.  If parents prefer they can send the work back to be corrected by me daily or after all pages have been completed.  Any other homework will be communicated via email. Any other homework will be communicated via email.

Image result for peanut aware

Our classroom has a child with a severe food allergy to peanuts.

In compliance with STAR Administrative Procedure 317 which states,

“The Board, Senior Administration and school-level staff of STAR Catholic School Division recognize the dangers faced by individuals who experience severe allergic or anaphylactic reactions. While Division staff cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment, we will take reasonable steps to ensure an allergy-safe or allergy-aware environment for those who have life-threatening allergies further to the goal of maintaining an appropriate learning environment for all students“

We are asking your help to provide the student with a safe school environment.  Any exposure to peanuts/nuts may cause a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment. To reduce the chance of this occurring, we are asking that you do not send any peanut or nut containing products to school with your child that will be eaten in the classroom.  This includes regular snacks and lunches as well as food for special occasions. If your child has eaten peanuts/nuts before coming to school, please be sure your child’s hands and face have been thoroughly washed before entering the school.
